Privacy Policy

What this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Effective 30 July 2026

The short version

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We never have.
  • There is no advertising on this site and no advertising or cross-site trackers.
  • We collect two things: what you deliberately send us through the contact form, and basic visitor statistics so we know which pages are useful.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, and we will.

Who we are

QuSpin Inc., Louisville, Colorado, USA. We design and manufacture atomic magnetometers for research and industry. This policy covers the website at quspin.com. For anything about it, email info@quspin.com.

Information you send us

The form on our contact page submits the fields you fill in: your name and email address, your message, and — where you choose to provide them — your organization, country, product of interest, and the type of inquiry. It arrives with us as an email.

We use it to answer you and to keep a record of the correspondence, exactly as we would with an email you sent us directly. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your details to anyone outside QuSpin.

Information collected automatically

We use Statcounter for visitor statistics. It records what any analytics tool records: which pages were viewed and when, the page or search that brought you here, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic browser and screen information. It sets one cookie so a returning visitor is not double-counted.

We read this in aggregate — whether a product page is being found, which guides get used. We do not use it to build profiles, and we do not try to identify individual visitors.

Our host, GitHub Pages, keeps standard server access logs, as every web server does. We do not have access to them.

Why we process it, and on what basis

We use contact-form information to respond to your inquiry — that is either performance of a contract or our legitimate interest in answering someone who has contacted us, depending on the circumstances. We use visitor statistics under our legitimate interest in understanding whether the site works. If you are in the UK or EU and you would rather we did not count your visit, block cookies or use private browsing; nothing on the site depends on them.

Cookies

The only cookie this site sets is Statcounter’s visitor cookie, described above. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Blocking cookies does not break anything here — you simply will not appear in our visitor numbers.

Some pages embed video, and playing one may set cookies belonging to YouTube or Vimeo. See below.

Embedded video and external links

The quick-start videos on our guides are click-to-load: nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play. Two guide pages and the Magpie online guide embed video that loads with the page, sending a request to YouTube or Vimeo, who apply their own privacy policies.

Some manuals, firmware images, CAD files and software installers are hosted on Google Drive or similar services rather than here. Following such a link takes you to that provider, and their policy then applies. We are not told what you download.

Who else handles the data

We use a small number of service providers, and no others:

None of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not disclose personal information to anyone else unless we are legally obliged to.

Where it is held

QuSpin is in the United States, and the services above are US-based, so information you send us is processed in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, your information will be transferred there — which is unavoidable if you would like a reply from us.

How long we keep it

Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for the relationship — a quotation, an order, a support history — and longer where records must be retained for accounting or export-control reasons. Visitor statistics are retained by Statcounter according to their own retention periods, in aggregate form. If you would like your correspondence deleted sooner, ask us.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and it is encrypted. Our email and file storage sit behind access controls on managed platforms. No system is perfect, but we hold very little about visitors, which is the most effective protection available.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, give you a copy, or stop using it. Email info@quspin.com and a person will deal with it — we are a small company, not a ticket queue. We will not charge you or make it difficult, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are in the UK or EU, those are your rights under the GDPR, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right to know and to delete. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — so there is nothing for you to opt out of.

Do Not Track

There is no agreed standard for how sites should answer a Do Not Track signal, so we do not respond to one. We do not track visitors across other websites regardless.

Children

This site is intended for researchers, engineers and other professional users. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the site collects or who processes it, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. This version took effect on 30 July 2026.
